The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager to join our team here at Stanlow. You will lead a team of construction engineers and inspectors, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and project delivery. The role oversees contractor performance, provides clear direction to the construction team, and offers constructability and safety input during design. You will also ensure adherence to engineering standards and support timely resolution of design issues throughout the EPC phase.
This role plays a key part in keeping the site safe, reliable and compliant by supporting long‑term mechanical assurance and project work, while also helping with day‑to‑day issues when needed.
It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys improving performance, supporting projects, and working in a high‑hazard industrial environment.
Primary Accountabilities
* Manage construction delivery during EPC to ensure safe, high‑quality installation within agreed cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
* Oversee EPC contractor activities, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations, engineering standards, company policies, and HSE requirements.
* Drive cost‑effective engineering solutions that maintain constructability, operability, and maintainability standards.
* Monitor site progress against schedule, identify delays, and recommend corrective actions.
* Ensure all construction work meets project specifications and technical standards.
* Support resolution of interface and design issues throughout construction and commissioning phases.
* Review and validate construction progress reports and ensure robust reporting practices.
* Provide on‑site construction expertise during construction, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning.
* Champion safety performance and compliance, promoting Triple Goal Zero and supporting audit readiness.
* Maintain KPIs, ensure accurate HSSE reporting, and drive best practice across the area of responsibility.
* Identify and deliver cost and efficiency improvements across construction activities.
* Support digitalisation initiatives and work with IT and business teams to implement fit‑for‑purpose digital solutions.
* Support project commissioning activities, including weekend or additional hours when required.
* Achieve and maintain required site signatory status (e.g., Management of Change, Authorised Engineer, Gas Testing).
* Willingness to work shifts, be on‑call, travel as needed, and hold a full UK driving licence.
About You
You will bring a strong technical background with a relevant bachelor's degree and ideally project management and health & safety accreditation. You have extensive experience delivering large-scale oil, gas or petrochemical projects within UK governance and COMAH environments, with a solid understanding of legislation, CDM requirements, modern construction and modularisation methods.
You're confident managing contract packages, overseeing construction progress, analysing budgets, and working effectively within unionised, multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills, excellent IT and project management software capability, and the ability to represent the business at governance meetings are essential.
Closing Date
