Build, test and prove the next generation of long-range BVLOS drones
Join Airspection as we build tough, long-range endurance drones for remote infrastructure inspection. We are pioneering shore launched BVLOS operations for offshore wind, working directly with regulators and some of the world’s largest wind operators.
We are hiring a Test and Development Engineer with a mechanical or aerospace focus to take subsystems from requirements through design, prototyping and structured testing, and into operational use. This role suits someone who wants to build real hardware, validate it rigorously and see it fly in demanding offshore conditions.
What you will own
* Deliver subsystems end to end, from early requirements and design through prototyping, testing and release.
* Plan and run structured ground and flight tests, capturing, analysing and reporting data to drive design improvements.
* Build, assemble and integrate prototypes, resolving mechanical, vibration and integration issues effectively.
* Support field testing, including pre flight preparation, inspections, troubleshooting and on site test operations.
* Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including test plans, reports, drawings and integration notes.
* Implement improvements to system based on test evidence.
* Evaluate components, materials and suppliers, supporting decisions with engineering judgment.
* Carry out UAS piloting for testing and commercial missions onshore and offshore, depending on competence.
What you bring
* Mechanical or aerospace engineering background.
* Experience designing, prototyping or testing physical hardware.
* Proficiency with CAD tools.
* Ability to assemble, integrate and diagnose mechanical systems hands on.
* Experience defining or running structured tests.
* Strong analytical ability and comfort working with real test data.
* Understanding of loads, vibration and lightweight structures.
* Clear documentation and attention to detail.

* Experience with UAVs, robotics or aerospace systems.
* Familiarity with composite materials or lightweight structures.
* Experience supporting flight tests or field deployments.
* Understanding of propulsion mechanics, loads, vibration and lightweight structures.
* Strong failure analysis ability and evidence driven design improvements.
* (UAS) pilot competence or motivation to build these skills.
* Proven ownership of taking a engineering system from concept to operational readiness.
