NWMS is a leading UK manufacturer of cold-formed steel and cable-containment systems.
We're looking for an experienced Tool Room Operative. You will report directly to the Technical Manager.
Location: Shop floor based in Skelmersdale Lancashire.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7.00am to 3.00pm with half hour unpaid lunch break each day – 37.5 hours per week in total, paid monthly. Would be required to be flexible when needed to ensure the job is complete. Overtime available when necessary both during the week and weekends.
This role is of key importance to the continued growth and development of N W Metal Sections Ltd.
The ideal candidate will have hands on experience within a CNC turning environment with the ability to work under pressure.
The individual will be expected to support the day-to-day production activities in the most efficient manner, working with a team to provide both manufacture of new parts and conduct repairs to support the manufacturing divisions.

Experience with manual lathe work and general Toolroom machining methods including Milling, Surface grinder »

Your responsibilities » Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard »
Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production – training can be provided »
Ensure as part of the team, manufacture is covered in a timely manner so that try-out dates are met »
Ensure as part of the team, breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so that production downtime is kept to a minimum »
Aim for a "right first time" approach to all work carried out »
Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, including agreeing timescales and costs »
Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and Company rules and procedures »
Follow verbal or written instructions and work to set out procedures »
*Must be able to carry out all of the above duties with experience and knowledge*
Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPI's and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business.
The successful candidate will be expected to travel to the Midlands for training in preparation of the equipment being transferred to Skelmersdale, this training will take place in the Midlands up until our Christmas shutdown.
