Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join the team at Amman Valley Hospital, Ammanford. This 28‑bed unit focuses on rehabilitation of the elderly. The service is GP and consultant led. Admissions are accepted from the community and both general hospitals within Carmarthenshire. The team works alongside community, primary care and acute sites to develop an integrated rehabilitation approach that promotes patient independence and best outcomes for discharge.
Responsibilities
* Provide compassionate care and support to elderly patients.
* Assist with mobilising, washing, dressing, feeding and communication needs.
* Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement rehabilitation plans.
* Maintain accurate documentation and report to nursing staff.
* Support patients to achieve independence and facilitate successful discharge.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Essential: Level 2 in care or the ability to undertake induction and on‑the‑job training to include theoretical knowledge of care and a range of procedures, such as completion of a competency‑based workbook equivalent to a Level 2 vocational qualification.
* Essential: Ability to understand and comply with mandatory induction standards and the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers in Wales.
* Desirable: Level 2 vocational qualification in a relevant health‑care related subject.
Experience
* Essential: Experience working as part of a team.
* Desirable: Previous experience working with people in a caring capacity.
The post requires Welsh language skills. The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this position. Applicants must be able to speak Welsh; however applications in English or Welsh are accepted.
