About the Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, based primarily at our Bede campus, you will provide support to our staff and learners across our campuses in the Northeast.
The successful applicant will play a key role in managing and developing all aspects of the Group infrastructure including servers and storage, virtualisation, networking and managing the security posture of the Group. Working throughout the IT infrastructure stack you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the Group’s digital strategy, from implementing new networking solutions, onboarding new campuses to integrating new classroom technologies and applications.
.Role Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain the College IT environment including on-premises and cloud-based environments.
• Analyse and resolve faults ranging from a cyber security incident to forgotten passwords and provide reports to management.
• Provide 2nd / 3rd line support to end users.
• Respond to and develop pro-active monitoring of any health issues with network devices, servers, backups and cloud services/infrastructure.
• Maintain and develop the College’s IT security posture and systems, including data protection.
• Where appropriate, provide training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
Qualifications
•Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualifications in an IT related discipline, with evidence of continuing professional development.
•GCSE Level 4/C English and Maths or equivalent
•Support of IT infrastructure and services within complex multi-site IT environments.
•Ability to diagnose & resolve complex IT issues
•Virtualisation technologies and protocols. VMWare/Horizon View, Nutanix, Hyper-V and Azure Virtual Desktop would be advantageous.
•Microsoft Windows services including DNS, DHCP, Certificate services, Active Directory, DFS and Group Policy management.
•Network switching and routing including configuration, management and optimisation, experience with CISCO products would be an advantage.
•Able to communicate and coach effectively within the team to ensure ongoing improvement and provide clarity around expectations
•Knowledge of cyber security best practices, experience in monitoring and implementing security measures across multiple technologies
•Experience of implementation, management, and architecture of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions in environments such Azure and AWS
•Enterprise desktop and application deployment; experience of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager or Microsoft Intune would be an advantage.
•Able to work flexibly in line with the needs of the organisation, being geographically mobile across the group and at varying times (by agreement) should organisational needs demand
•Current professional qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, VMWare, Cisco, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace
