A large retailing group has an opening for a Packaging Buyer. This role requires someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead, influence, and build strong working relationships with a diverse range of people. The Packaging Buyer is responsible for managing the day-to-day requirements of packaging from multiple suppliers for both new and existing products. This position supports sourcing initiatives and commodity strategies to identify suppliers, secure competitive pricing, and implement effective sourcing tactics. Tasks include supporting business growth and achieving service, quality, and cost objectives.
Strong numeracy skills are essential to evaluate, manage, and negotiate vendor costs, quality control, and distribution capabilities, enabling appropriate suggestions or selections. You will also develop and implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high levels of service and quality.
The successful candidate will manage the strategy and bidding process for packaging items, including reviewing, analyzing, and coordinating bids. Collaboration with internal departments on new and existing product developments and packaging selection is also required.
Candidates must commit to continuous improvement procedures, monitor supplier performance, provide feedback, and address issues proactively.
Excellent written communication skills are crucial. You will prepare clear, accurate, and concise reports, specifications, correspondence, and other written materials.
