This is a 10PA locum appointment for a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist. This post will be available from April 2026 for a period of 12 months. A substantive post is planned for 2027.

This post will deliver 10PAs supporting the Paediatric Radiology (and General Radiology) team. The post will be based at Leeds Childrens Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary.

Leeds is a major trauma centre for paediatrics, is one of 3 designated centres within the UK for Paediatric Liver transplantation, and one of the largest centres in the UK for Cystic Fibrosis and Paediatric Surgery. The Childrens and Teenage Young Adult Haematology and Oncology service is one of the UK’s leading centres for research and has recently won a national award for innovation and excellence.

Applicants are invited for this full time Consultant Paediatric Radiology post to join a team of 9 experienced enthusiastic Consultant Paediatric Radiologists, who currently provide a comprehensive range of Paediatric Radiology services for the Childrens Hospital. Cross‑sectional Neuroradiology is provided by Neuro Radiologists, 3 with a specialist interest in paediatric neuroradiology.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be expected to provide a high‑quality service in paediatric MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and plain film reporting as well as participating with the dedicated paediatric radiology on‑call rota (1 in 8). The appointee will also support the adult CT team (0.5PA).

The paediatric radiologists support a dedicated paediatric radiology on‑call service. Each consultant has developed an area of specialist interest.

The appointee will play an active role in supporting the general paediatric imaging service (including to deliver acute on‑call, 1 in 8). The appointee will also support the adult CT team (0.5PA).

About us

The LTHT radiology department is one of the largest in Europe and has an established reputation for clinical innovation and expertise along with a significant teaching and research profile. The department contains one of three national radiology training academies with associated educational facilities and resources for the Leeds Bradford Radiology training scheme. In terms of research the department has helped establish a NIHR funded research 3T MRI as part of the Leeds Biomedical Research Unit on trust premises. Within this unit imaging plays a large part in most musculoskeletal projects along with performance of separate radiology‑specific research.

Recently the department has also been successful in obtaining funding for developing and establishing an academic programme focusing on oncology radiology led by a Professor of Radiology.
