AI Engineer
We’re seeking an experienced AI Engineer to take technical leadership of Generative AI development within the Applied Data & Insight (ADI) team. You’ll play a key role in shaping experimental AI solutions driving innovation and advancing how public sector communicators use large language models. This role focuses on AI system design and backend development, with no front-end development required.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead the development and experimentation of Generative AI capabilities. Maintain and evolve the API layer using FastAPI and AWS.
* Design and build experimental features using Large Language Model APIs. Collaborate with Data Scientists, Developers, and Product Managers to deliver AI-driven improvements.
* Contribute to technical design, RAG implementations, and model integration.
* Manage code, testing, and deployment using GitHub and AWS Elastic Beanstalk. Drive AI innovation aligned with the team’s roadmap and government AI policies.
Key Criteria
* Essential: Proven experience with Large Language Model APIs (2021 or later), Generative AI, and Python.
* Demonstrated ability to lead on AI product development or backend AI engineering.
* Strong understanding of API architecture, data pipelines, and AI model integration.
* Experience deploying solutions in AWS environments. Collaborative approach to working in agile, multidisciplinary teams. No front-end skills required — focus is on backend AI development.
