Hay is recruiting an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Environmental Health and Regulatory Services to join a local authority on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-profile projects that make a real difference to the community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and deliver complex projects within the council, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements within Environment and Regulatory Services.
2. Develop and implement project plans, processes, and governance frameworks.
3. Lead procurement activities, including drafting scopes, technical evaluations, and tender documentation.
4. Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and partner organisations to achieve project objectives.
5. Monitor budgets, timelines, and KPIs to ensure successful delivery.
6. Provide strategic advice and operational leadership on environmental, regulatory, and community-focused initiatives.
About You
7. Proven track record as a Senior Project Manager within local government or public sector, specifically in Environment and Regulatory Services.
8. Experience managing multi-million-pound projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
9. Strong knowledge of environmental and regulatory services, air quality improvement measures, and active travel schemes.
10. Skilled in procurement, operational readiness, and policy development.
11. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and influence at all levels.
Desirable Experience
12. Delivery of grant schemes and community-focused projects.
13. Familiarity with Environment and Regulatory Services and public health initiatives.
14. Understanding of statutory duties and compliance frameworks within local authorities.
15. Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (CIEH) Certificate No. CS002275.
16. Housing Health and Safety Rating System Assessment (RH Environmental Ltd).
