Portfolio Procurement is partnering exclusively with a well-established manufacturing business in South Yorkshire to find an ambitious Purchasing Manager who can take full ownership of the function. This role is an opportunity to shape strategy, strengthen a global supply base, and lead an experienced team in a business that genuinely values its procurement function.
The role:
You will be responsible for managing both the current and future needs the Purchasing department, including managing suppliers and negotiating contracts.
You will be responsible for:
* Negotiation of all current and new purchasing contracts
* Develop and maintain a supply base globally
* Select new suppliers based on factors including cost and suitability/competence to supply
* Re-tender of all current and new commodities
* Align all material management processes
* Managing, supporting, and coaching of the team
Skills and Experience
* Previous Purchasing experience at a senior level to include a solid understanding of Steel, Fabrications and Machined commodities
* Previous experience in managing a team
* Ability to travel globally should the need arise
* An understanding of lean manufacturing
