About The Role
As a Chartered Paraplanner you will provide comprehensive administrative and technical assistance. Your responsibilities include preparing client meeting documentation, suitability reports, application forms, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. You will research financial solutions from our Centralised Investment Proposition and other alternatives, draft suitability letters, complete and submit applications, and keep your product, technical and regulatory knowledge up to date. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to compliance are essential. The role is open nationally; we offer hybrid working with a monthly office presence.
About You
You are a detail‑oriented, analytical Senior Paraplanner with at least two years of experience. You understand pensions, investments and estate planning, and can research and analyse clients’ financial positions to make informed recommendations. You are funded by (or close to) Chartered Financial Planner status with the CII, have excellent written and verbal communication, are well‑versed in compliance, and maintain meticulous CRM records. You take ownership of cases from start to finish, ensuring applications are processed promptly. This role is also open to candidates near Cheltenham, London, Cardiff, Darlington, Fareham, Harrogate, Liverpool, Newbury and Grangemouth.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Analyse the client’s current financial position and, given their priorities and the Financial Planner’s advice, make recommendations.
* Complete and submit a suitability report in a timely manner.
* Use paraplanner tools such as Cashflow and Fund analytics to complete the report and evidence that client objectives have been met.
* Ensure data gathered by Administrators is complete, accurate and up to date.
* Gather data and research new plans as appropriate.
* Maintain record‑keeping on our CRM system, ensuring timely, accurate and unambiguous records.
* Submit completed applications to providers, ensuring all relevant documentation is attached and compliant.
* Take ownership of the case, monitoring progress and ensuring it meets provider standards and client expectations.
* Support communications with the client, informing the Financial Planner of progress and resolving issues.
* Collect, scan and attach all documentation and correspondence to the client file.
* Ensure all regulatory obligations are discharged fully.
* Support the business in responding to complaints, internally or via the Financial Ombudsman Services.
* Ensure advice files are submitted for full file checks.
* Complete remedial actions in a timely manner.
* Maintain continuous professional development in pensions, investments and estate planning.
* Study and pursue professional qualifications towards chartered status.
* Undertake ad‑hoc project work as directed by business requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Advanced Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and Chartered status by the CII.
* At least 2 years’ experience as a Paraplanner.
* Comprehensive knowledge of pensions and investments.
* Good understanding of compliance processes and issues.
* Excellent interpersonal, listening, numerical and IT skills.
* Strong analytical and research abilities.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* Good organisational, time‑management and caseload management skills.
* Experience in the financial services industry, preferably as an Independent Financial Adviser.
* Ability to work independently for extended periods.
* Professional, ethical and discreet.
* Capacity to build and maintain client relationships.
* Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Minimum 5 GCSEs graded A‑B (6), including Maths and English.
* Degree level education.
* Experience with Intelliflo.
Salary and Benefits
Up to £56,000 – negotiable depending on experience and qualification.
