Residential Child Care Support Worker (Sessional/Casual)
Casual: Shift pattern - ad-hoc cover
Salary: £ per hour

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.
As a Support Care Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate” about your role. The young people are at the centre of everything we do. You will be a role model, a listening ear, approachable, and potentially inspire and significantly impact a young person’s life, choices, and future. You should promote, support, and facilitate creating “happy memories” and have fun with them.
We are seeking Care Workers to join our teams in Carlisle and Headsnook on a casual basis, who have a warm, approachable manner and can make a meaningful difference in young people's recovery from early life experiences.
Main Duties
Each home has detailed shift planners and handover documents outlining specific daily duties, which vary between term-time and holiday periods. During term-time, duties include:
* Supporting daily routines, including waking, hygiene, meals, school runs, and activities
* Supporting room cleans, life skills, independence, socialization, and bedtime routines
* Attending medical and other appointments
* Supporting activity planners
* Completing day sheets and working on targets
* Completing handover documents and daily paperwork
* Managing budgeting needs
* Performing room checks and cleaning tasks
* Shopping, meal prep, kitchen hygiene, and laundry duties
* Performing checks such as COSHH, fire, and vehicle checks
* Building relationships with families, noting special dates, and planning family contacts
Requirements
Applicants must:
* Be flexible with availability, including sleep-in nights and shifts of up to hours, starting at varied times
* Understand issues faced by young people in care
* Hold relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards them (e.g., Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care)
* Have excellent communication and listening skills
* Be willing to learn and work well in a team
* Undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
* Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous
