Grade: Level 5
Salary: £24,294 to £26,421 full time, full year (pending pay rise); £18,666 to £20,299 actual salary, 32.5 hours per week, term time only (pending pay rise)
Hours of Work: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8.45am to 3.35pm; Wednesday: 8.45am to 4.05pm; Friday: 8.25am to 3.35pm; 32.5 hours per week, term time only

Kemball School, part of Orchard Community Trust, is a day special school for pupils aged 3 to 19 with cognitive and learning difficulties (PMLD, SLD & MLD), some with complex medical/physical needs. The school has a welcoming atmosphere, with a current enrollment of 220 pupils.

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic SEN Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. Experience with pupils with cognition and learning needs, supporting communication difficulties, sensory processing disorders, and medical needs is essential. Candidates should be willing to pursue professional development through relevant courses.
The successful candidate will have experience in education or care settings, hold NVQ Level 3 in Teaching & Learning or equivalent, and be familiar with child protection and health and safety policies. A detailed job description and person specification are available on our website.
Key duties include:
* Providing learning activities for individuals and groups under the supervision of a qualified teacher, adapting programs to meet SEN pupils' needs
* Planning and evaluating specialist activities, maintaining records and reports
* Supporting pupils with therapy or care programs designed by professionals
* Monitoring and recording development, progress, and attainment, and reporting issues
* Using appropriate resources and methods to facilitate learning
* Contributing to planning and review of individual development plans
Additional responsibilities may include:
* Assisting with pupil induction into specialist units or mainstream classes
* Monitoring behaviour and intervening in challenging situations
* Supervising pupils in various settings throughout the day
* Building relationships with families, carers, and other professionals
* Assisting with the use of aids and equipment
* Supervising pupils on educational outings and activities
* Managing materials and resources
* Administering medication following training and protocols
* Performing other duties as appropriate
