Reporting to the Business Health & Safety Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to develop a career with a leading Irish organisation, focusing on engaging and enhancing health and safety practices to protect our people and those affected by our activities.
Responsibilities
1. Implement, improve, and enhance the site's safety management system.
2. Support, advise, and provide technical expertise to managers to ensure legislative compliance and improve health and safety standards.
3. Conduct and attend regular meetings with managers and supervisors.
4. Assist managers in performing risk assessments and implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements.
5. Support and implement Arrabawn's leading indicator programme, including reporting good saves, safety audits, inspections, and safety conversations.
6. Ensure all accidents and near misses are fully reported and investigated.
7. Review, develop, and implement health and safety procedures, policies, work instructions, checklists, and other documentation.
8. Identify training needs and assist in managing training records.
9. Assist in designing training plans and courses, and deliver health and safety inductions and other training as required.
10. Liaise with external consultants.
11. Coach employees on positive health & safety practices.
12. Conduct emergency plans and fire drills.
13. Support the Contractor Management System.
14. Assist in preparing health and safety reports for the business.
15. Monitor and update health & safety metrics.
16. Attend monthly safety committee meetings and record minutes.
17. Coordinate and order health & safety materials, including signage, PPE, first aid supplies, and spill kits.
18. Perform other duties as required in line with business needs.
Key Experience, Competencies, and Qualifications
* Relevant third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
* Experience in a manufacturing/food production environment is desirable.
* Thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
* Flexibility in working patterns as needed.
* Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with online management systems preferred.
* Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Highly organized, motivated, and driven.
* Trainer qualifications such as 'Train the Trainer', Manual Handling, or other instructor certifications are desirable but not essential.
