Overview
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic locum Consultant Gynaecologist with an interest in Oncology - pending a substantive appointment. You will join a team of 28 consultants working across the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in a busy District General Hospital. This post is a Gynaecology only role covering Theatre, gynae oncology clinics and MDT, colposcopy, vulval clinics, general gynaecology clinics, and contributing to the acute gynaecology take and non-resident on calls in a 1:16 frequency. All acute services including the gynaecology ward are based at the Princess Royal site with elective activities provided at both the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites. Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury which are located 20 minutes\' drive apart. Together they provide 99% of our activity. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care. We also provide services such as consultant-led outreach clinics at the Wrekin Community Clinic, Telford, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen and the Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Whitchurch Community Hospitals.
Responsibilities
* Theatres, Inpatient and day case.
* Gynae oncology MDT, gynae oncology clinics, colposcopy and vulval clinic.
* General gynaecology clinics and involvement in the acute gynaecology take and non-resident on calls (1:16 frequency).
* Specialist duties include contributing to the on-call rota and to elective activities at weekends, with overall weekend frequency described as 1:8, and 1:16 weekends on call as non-resident.
* 1:16 non-resident on call; on-call duties involve resident tasks during the shift and the requirement to be immediately available to return to the site within 30 minutes for non-resident on calls.
* Ward rounds are conducted when covering acute on call; not routinely during non-acute periods. Ward rounds during resident shifts are part of core DCC time.
* Obstetrics activity is described for information only as this is a Gynaecology-only post; obstetric shifts (acute work) are staffed separately with a resident presence 24/7 where applicable.
* A formal job plan will be agreed within 3 months of starting, outlining duties, responsibilities and objectives across clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. The plan is reviewed annually and determines weekly allocation of Programmed Activities (PAs) and Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs).

Qualifications and requirements
Essential
* MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
* Appropriate qualification / experience in Maternal Medicine
* ATSM/ SITM in Oncology or equivalent
* ATSM/SITM in Colposcopy or equivalent
Desirable
* Experience with Vulval care
Entry criteria
* Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Desirable
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
