My client is currently looking for a Machinist / Toolmaker to join their small friendly team on a permanent basis.
Based in Barrow upon Soar, they supports various sectors in their mechanical engineering and machining requirements, producing one offs, small batches, prototypes, repairs and refurbishments.
A strong mechanical engineering background is essential due to the varied work undertaken.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes.
Experience to include:
* Milling
* Turning
* Read and interpret engineering drawings
* Work to tight tolerances
* Carry out own inspection
Desirable:
* Boring
* Surface grinding
* Assembly
* Welding / Light Fabrication.
* Fork Lift
Outline of Job Duties:
* To manufacture high quality components in an efficient manufacture, to drawing specifications with minimum supervision.
* Use engineering knowledge to reverse engineer and find solutions to solve engineering problems.
* Quality check own work to ensure high quality parts are manufactured.
* Contribute to the housekeeping of the workshops, maintaining tidy and clean work areas.
* Work in an ethical and professional manner at all times as a representative of the company.
* Flexibility to use other relevant skills and abilities as required.
* Effective communication with colleagues, customers and project teams.
* High standards of reliability and punctuality.
* Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work using own initiative as well as operate as part of a team.
* A flexible approach to respond to the demands of the business.
Hours of work: 39 per week. Part time would be considered.
Monday to Thursday: 7.30 am to 4.30 pm Friday: 7.30 am to 12.30 pm
Holidays: 28 days per annum including Bank and Public Holidays.
Rate of pay: Good rate of pay. Negotiable dependent upon skills and experience
