Hello, I’m Alison, the live-in carer working on rotation in a nice relaxed, enjoyable role on rotation for a lovely respectful elderly man with a good sense of humour!
A spacious, nice environment, carers’ accommodation in separate part with own kitchen, lounge area, bathroom and private part of the garden.
Julian needs a personable and interactive carer with a good sense of humour herself. He enjoys company at mealtimes, reading, light chat over a newspaper, playing draughts, looking at his photo albums, watching old musical numbers on his i-pad and some tv programmes. Good sleeper and spends lot of time napping. Sleeps through nights. Feeds himself, loves home cooking, all meals and meds prepared by carer. Rises at 8.15 am, in bed by 7.00pm. (2 often 3 hr breaks ) He’s a very polite gentleman and regularly thanks us for the care he receives.
M&H to assist getting out of bed & Gantry hoist to get into bed. Needs help with full pc and dressing. Carer needs to be over 5’5”/166 cm. Julian’s quite tall but not overweight (the M&H has proven hard for anyone shorter, sorry). Double-up care is in place with friendly co-carers for Gantry hoisting our of bed and the M&H.
Non-smoker and very clearly spoken English as Julian now struggles to understand very strong accents.
Ideally 40 yrs old plus (afraid Julian’s embarrassed with personal care from younger ladies)
Light housework the responsibility of carer in Julian’s and carer’s own area, but a cleaner helps
Julian's daughter lives next door with dogs, along with the granddaughter who is a domiciliary carer. Both very supportive if ever needed, kind and considerate of our carer’s space and role and even steps in to accommodate us to attend any special events or appointments that may happen on our rotations. (Their dalmatians sometimes visit Julian’s side of home as he loves animals and enjoys the interaction and so do we as carers as animal lovers ourselves!)
Salary negotiable according to work pattern, experience etc
Efficient and experienced person essential who can use own initiative and work well in a team for the double-up times.
Non-smoker & Driver essential (use of automatic car for Julian’s needs) Enhanced DBS & references will be required - thank you
