Role Description
Holy Eucharist School is currently seeking a Learning Support Officer (LSO). The successful applicant will be required to work 5 days a week for 4 hours per day. This is a fixed term contract until the end of the year. The role involves assisting the classroom teacher and supporting the learning needs of students. The staff work hard to ensure success and growth in learning for all students. We require an organised, enthusiastic and positive person to fulfil this role. The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with the Learning Diversity Leader, classroom teachers, intervention staff and other LSOs. The LSO is appointed by the Principal and works under the supervision of the Learning Diversity Leader and the Classroom Teacher. In this role, the LSO assists students with special needs to integrate into a mainstream setting and to access the mainstream curriculum at their point of need. Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The LSO may work with students with disabilities, impairments or learning difficulties across all areas and all levels. We expect the applicant to implement Holy Eucharist School’s philosophy through modelling and supporting the goals of the school and to proactively participate in their own ongoing development and learning.
Selection Criteria
* Be faith-filled with a strong commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school and to the spiritual, emotional, social and educational wellbeing of all students
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with students, staff and parents
* Supportive behaviour management practices
Special Requirements
* A current Working with Children Check and National Police Record History Check and be considered a suitable person for child-connected work
* Certificate III or IV qualification in Educational Support or equivalent (preferred)
* Committed to child safety and the Child Safety Standards (Ministerial Order 1359)
* Only applications which include the attached application form will be considered
* At least three referees including current principal (if applicable)
