Medical Secretary – Cowal Community Hospital
An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the admin team in Cowal Community Hospital, Dunoon on a Fixed Term, 15‑hour part‑time contract for two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday).
Key responsibilities include providing confidential administrative support to medical staff, managing patient records, handling correspondence, prioritising tasks in complex situations, and working independently as well as within a team.
Induction, training, support and supervision will be provided. This post is on a fixed‑term basis and is expected to be reviewed on 3 August 2027.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 Credit Standard Grades, including English and Secretarial Studies or equivalent.
* Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures.
* At least 2 years of secretarial experience, including word processing in an office environment.
* Medical Secretarial Diploma/BSMSA Certificate in Medical Secretarial Studies or previous NHS secretarial experience.
* Medical Terminology Certificate desirable.
* RSA Stage 2 or 3, or equivalent experience with a minimum speed of 60 wpm.
