Job Overview
The Environment Agency is looking for a Commercial Services Manager to support the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) team. The role involves overseeing commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, setting up and managing pathfinder programmes, and ensuring value for money across national delivery programmes.
Responsibilities
* Support the team in commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Maximise returns on budgets and demonstrate value for money.
* Design and implement pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and develop long‑term partnership arrangements.
* Provide country‑wide support to integrated delivery management teams and the wider project management community.
* Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Serve an incident response role as part of the Environment Agency’s incident response duties.
Qualifications – Essential
* Level 3 qualification or equivalent; A‑Level or equivalent.
* Strong communicator with interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver value for money.
* Strong organisational and administration skills – ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to undertake long‑term professional qualifications such as NEC training, CIPS, etc.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Membership or working towards membership with a recognised professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, RICS).
* Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
