Band 3 Mental Health Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor (Permanent) | Location: Wirral | Start Date: ASAP
This post is based at the Springview Mental Health Unit, Clatterbridge Hospital and will involve working across multiple wards, including: three acute adult mental health assessment wards, a ward for people with dementia, and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Responsibilities
You will need to show an awareness of Occupational Therapy and mental health conditions and be able to manage risk. You will work as part of the Occupational Therapy team to plan and facilitate a varied programme of therapeutic activities, either in small groups or individually with service users. Through your interactions with service users you will consider their presentation and record clinical documentation accordingly. You will work with the entire Occupational Therapy team (which includes experienced Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Technical Instructors) and the integrated multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure a seamless and supportive care experience for every individual.
Main duties of the job: Be part of a friendly, supportive, and well-established MDT. Receive dedicated guidance and direction from experienced Occupational Therapists. Benefit from ongoing professional development, including clinical supervision, annual appraisals, a heart of care training program designed specifically for support staff, a wide range of training opportunities, and free access to a fully equipped gym.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Completed care certificate OR experience in a health care setting OR experience within an Occupational Therapy setting.
* Desirable: Training in disability equipment; Care Certificate.
Knowledge & Expertise
* Essential: Excellent verbal and written communication; coordination and organisational skills; basic risk assessment and risk management; ability to work autonomously and collaboratively; basic computer literacy; basic understanding of issues affecting older people with mental health problems; basic awareness of health and social care.
* Desirable: Skills in leading groups; skills in using a variety of activities and interventions relevant to the post including creative activities and domestic skills.
Experience
* Essential: Experience in a health care setting.
* Desirable: Experience in AMH area.
