Clinical Navigator (Lincoln Secondment)

East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust, in conjunction with United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals, is advertising a Clinical Navigator vacancy. This seconded role will run until 31 March 2027 and aims to improve joint working across the urgent care arena in Lincolnshire.
The clinical navigator will lead efficient delivery of hospital ambulance turnaround, improve operational practices, and drive excellence in patient care and ambulance service delivery. The role serves as a conduit for real‑time, multi‑agency intelligence sharing, supporting Trust and partner agency decision‑making. Work may involve hospital or office settings.
Base station is Lincoln County Hospital. Shifts are 12 00–00 00 in the A/E department.
Main duties
* Lead ambulance coordinating role and oversee the clinical handover process.
* Redirect, signpost and educate patients to appropriate destinations for both in‑ and out‑of‑hospital pathways.
* Challenge processes and behaviours of ambulance and Emergency Department staff to ensure patients receive best destination and care.
* Divert patients to more appropriate pathways based on clinical appropriateness and system pressures.
* Operate at the designated hospital to support EMAS key performance indicators and clinical objectives.
* Prioritise ambulance staff and patient welfare, adopting the Professional Care Standards for Patients Waiting in Ambulances (NHSEI 2021) during prolonged handover.
Person Specification
* Current clinical NMC/HCPC registration.
* Robust evidence of experience and understanding of the wider health‑care system management.
* Work under pressure, demonstrating significant resilience, confidence and self‑belief in challenging situations.

Salary
£49,387 to £56,515 per annum. Will attract unsocial hours, evenings and weekends.
