A long-established and respected civil engineering consultancy based in the South East is expanding and seeking experienced Associate Civil Engineers to join its growing team. About the Role This role offers a varied mix of site-based work and technical reporting, including civil design, inspections, and expert witness opportunities. You’ll work as part of a dedicated and close-knit team, with flexibility to focus on areas of particular strength or interest. Key Responsibilities Undertake civil design projects, attend site visits, complete design calculations and drawings, and prepare technical documentation for submission to head office. Conduct site inspections related to civil engineering defects and produce detailed reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations. (Optional) Support litigation-related work, including CPR-compliant expert witness reports and court appearances where required. Maintain regular entries in an online diary to communicate site activity and availability with the wider team. Required Qualifications & Skills Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, drainage, highways, and general civil infrastructure standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to produce clear, concise reports and technical drawings for peer review. Proficient in Microsoft Word, including formatting of documents and images. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Desirable Attributes Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff. Familiarity with civil design software and CAD. Experience with litigation or expert witness work (training can be provided).
