We're looking for an exceptional RVN to take on the role of Head Nurse at our dental-only clinic in Redland, Bristol and help us continue and grow our mission to make high quality dental care more accessible and affordable for pet owners.
As Luna Head Nurse, you'll be leading a small team of dedicated RVNs, supporting our certificate holding Lead Vet in theatre (including carrying out fully supported schedule 3 procedures) and carrying our dental health consultations and client care front-of-house.
About Luna
The Bristol Luna clinic is a small clinic in the popular community area of Redland, featuring a dental consulting room (with high-definition dental camera), and a fully-equipped dental theatre with state-of-the-art anaesthetic and monitoring equipment, plus of course digital dental X-ray. We also use a newly developed digital system for dental charting and anaesthetic record taking, to help us deliver exceptional patient and client care.
The Role
Led by our newly appointed lead vet (who has a certificate in veterinary dentistry) the 3-person clinical team typically carries out 3 and 4 dental procedures per day, with the RVNs also carrying out dental health assessment consultations, post operative care, and client support as pets begin or continue their dental health journey.
We offer a unique RVN role which is evenly divided between time in theatre running anaesthetics and carrying out routine scale and polish procedures, and front-of-house and practice management responsibilities. This gives our RVNs the opportunity to both deliver exceptional clinical care, including schedule 3 procedures, and also to be proactively involved in the broader day-to-day business, whether that be taking in-bound calls, supporting walk-in pet owners to buy dental products or enabling clients to join the Dental Club.
Responsibilities:
Managing and leading a small RVN team (1 FT head equivalent), inc. briefings and co-ordination of the team and day to day clinic diary
Working closely alongside the lead veterinary surgeon to create a positive and efficient environment
Delivering, coaching and leadership for RVNs and carrying out schedule 3 dental activities
Rotas and related people & resource management (including locums as required)
Working closely alongside our Clinical Operations Lead to ensure the clinic days are optimised and prepared for patients in alignment to our SOPs
Leading by example and training the team to use our digital dental charting and monitoring system
Leading by example and training the team to use our booking PMS
Leading by example to utilise our digital imaging system during dental health assessments
Delivering exceptional customer service during health assessments, admits and discharges, in alignment to Luna protocol
Ownership of professional audits and maintaining the high clinical, operational and process standards within the clinic
Manage, dispense and check medications
Work proactively and collaboratively with the founding team.
Key Benefits:
days annual leave plus bank holidays (with clinic closed between Christmas and NY)
CPD financial support and wider support from cert holder vet
VDS and RCVS fees paid
Paid 30 minute lunch break
A supportive and friendly environment,
Working within a fast growing, disruptive start up making a real difference to pets and owners,
