We are seeking an enthusiastic Design Manager to join our Southern region, based at our Southern Regional Office, Unit 2, Turnhams Green Business Park, Pincents Lane, Reading, RG31 4UH
To ensure that the design intent is effectively managed through review, interrogation and management of the design during pre-consultation and on live projects.
This is a full/ time, permanent role. 40hours over 5d days per week, from 8.30am – 5.30pm.
Duties of the Role:
* Often on multiple projects, full management of the design team throughout the project and during the full construction process. Key responsibility to maximise opportunities and mitigate risks.
* Fulfil the role of BRPD under the Building Safety Act to coordinate designs and designers.
* Ensure designs are compliant with Building regulations and all relevant standards, including recording and reviewing change management.
* Fulfil the role of CDM Principal Designer
* Undertake design review and option analysis, providing Value Engineering input where applicable. Interrogation of tender and construction stage information and management of subcontractor technical design workshops. Requirements of the contract to be reviewed and successfully delivered.
* Operate design management with a high level of technical understanding alongside contractual, commercial and programme awareness.
* Produce a design responsibility matrix to capture requirement and ownership of design responsibilities.
* Prepare a design programme in Asta PowerProject with the assistance of the project planner.
* Prepare the Information Required Schedule
* Prepare consultants scope of services and identify any scope gaps.
* Identify any variances from scopes and specifications contained within CP’s or ER’s as the design develops.
* Management of the BIM process
* Agree and action a handover process to ensure that there are no drawings or RFI’s on Viewpoint 4P awaiting release/ closure by the design team.
* Support the ongoing development and wellbeing of team members.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
* Understanding of BREEAM
* Strong technical experience and building knowledge
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
* Knowledge of appropriate BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks and/or Solibri
* Excellent organisational skills
* Attend APS BRPD training and supplementary training on the B+K Training Matrix and maintain CPD training
* Experience to managing specialist design sub-contractors
* Sound understanding of design obligations and CDM
* Understanding of cost control, detailed design, programme, BIM process, Viewpoint 4P and contractual requirements.
