Job Title: HV Electrical Shift Lead Engineer – Critical Site
Location: Croydon
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift (Days & Nights)
Salary: £60k + Shift Allowance + Bonus
The Opportunity
A well-established Facilities Management provider is seeking an experienced HV Electrical Shift Lead Engineer to take a leading role at a large, critical site in Croydon. This is an environment where reliability is everything. The site operates around the clock, and the engineering team plays a direct role in maintaining uptime and protecting essential infrastructure. The successful candidate will act as the lead engineer on shift, taking ownership of electrical systems and guiding the team through both routine operations and high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities
6. Act as the lead engineer on shift, overseeing all electrical operations on site
7. Operate and control high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems safely and effectively
8. Deliver and supervise planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
9. Respond to and manage critical incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
10. Monitor systems including switchgear, UPS, generators, and power distribution
11. Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems and safe operating procedures
12. Provide technical support and guidance to engineers on shift
13. Maintain detailed shift reports, logbooks, and compliance documentation
14. Liaise with site management, clients, and specialist contractors when required
The Ideal Candidate
The organisation is looking for a strong, dependable electrical engineer who can lead from the front. The right individual will be calm under pressure, technically capable, and confident in managing both systems and people.
Essential:
15. Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ / C&G Level 3 or equivalent)
16. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
17. Proven experience working with HV systems (Authorised Person status required)
18. Background in critical environments such as data centres, healthcare, or large commercial sites
19. Experience working within a shift pattern
20. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
21. Previous experience as a Shift Lead or Supervisor
22. Familiarity with BMS and control systems
23. Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
