Overview

We are looking for a friendly and engaging Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting a wonderful individual in her own home in the Lancaster area. She enjoys walks, crafts, baking, and a good chat over a coffee, so we are seeking someone sociable, encouraging, and able to help her stay engaged and active each day and let her creativity flourish.

This position is suitable for a committed and resilient individual who aims to positively impact the lives of people with learning disabilities and mental health support needs in various settings, focusing on empowering them to live fulfilling lives.


Responsibilities

* Assisting with daily tasks
* Offering emotional support
* Managing challenging behaviours when necessary
* Empowering individuals to develop life skills, make informed decisions, and build confidence in their independence
* Supporting budgeting and budgeting-related activities
* Promoting self-care
* Acting as a trusted advocate for the needs and aspirations of the individuals


Requirements and Expectations

* Flexible in working various shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays
* Sleep-ins may be required to ensure continuous support
* We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time

Collaborative Practice

You will work closely with individuals, their social worker, and other allied professionals to deliver personalised support addressing their specific needs. Your ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain professional boundaries will be crucial to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. You should actively listen, be flexible, and build trust and meaningful relationships through one-on-one support, encouraging independence, and advocacy for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs.

This role requires empathy, compassion, resilience, problem-solving skills, respect for professional boundaries, and a commitment to improving the lives of the people we support. A genuine passion for working with and supporting people is essential, along with a desire to advocate for individuals with learning difficulties and mental health support needs.
