Role
We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and dynamic Head of Asset & Supply Chain to lead and evolve DCC’s end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations. This is a high-impact, high-profile position within DCC, responsible for managing a critical national infrastructure supply chain supporting the UK’s Smart Meter rollout.
You will oversee the supply and lifecycle of up to 3 million communication hub units annually, representing an asset value of approximately £170 million per year. This includes managing forecasting, ordering, forward and reverse logistics, supplier relationships, budget oversight, and sustainability initiatives.
You’ll work cross-functionally with teams across Operations, Technology, Service Delivery, Finance, and Commercial – and represent DCC externally with key government and regulatory stakeholders including Ofgem, Smart Energy Code Administrators, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
What will you be doing?
1. Lead and manage the Comms Hub Supply Chain, ensuring reliable and cost-effective support to the Smart Meter rollout.
2. Oversee device manufacturing, international shipping, UK warehousing, B2B deliveries, returns, refurbishment, and secure disposals.
3. Manage a high-performing team and build strategic supplier partnerships.
4. Own and evolve the Communication Hub Ordering Policy, ensuring compliance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
5. Develop and implement the future Supply Chain Strategy in collaboration with the Director, Product & Networks.
6. Take ownership of the in-life budget and ensure alignment with finance and commercial functions.
7. Lead programmes to support technology transitions, including potential mass returns and the shift to 4G-enabled devices.
8. Ensure delivery against all Operational Performance Measures (OPR) and KPIs, contributing to value delivery and shareholder returns.
9. Represent DCC in regulatory and industry forums, and influence outcomes at a national level.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate leader who thrives in a strategic, customer-facing role and brings a high level of commercial and operational acumen.
You will:
10. Be a strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail and strong decision-making abilities.
11. Be a proven people leader, with the ability to develop and inspire high-performing teams.
12. Be able to communicate and influence at C-suite and government level.
13. Have a strong track record in high-volume asset tracking and supply chain management in a B2B and regulated environment.
14. Demonstrate deep expertise in logistics, supply chain operations, and supplier relationship management.
Essential Experience
15. Senior leadership experience (Head of or equivalent) in supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
16. Experience working in regulated industries such as Energy, Telecoms, Financial Services, or Smart Metering.
17. Proven success in leading teams and influencing in matrix organisations.
18. Strong experience managing Tier 1 suppliers and cross-functional internal stakeholders.
19. Strong analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
20. Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
