Taylormade Employment are on the lookout for a CAD Designer/ SoildWorks Technician.
The role is office based at Sherburn In Elmet this is a full time permanent role.
Working days Monday to Friday (Flexible working hours) 40 hours per week.
The company are seeking a Designer / SolidWorks Technician to join their growing design and production team.
This role is ideal for a technically minded designer with strong SolidWorks skills who is keen to work on bespoke display cases, involving glass, aluminium, steel, and specialist components.
You will support projects from concept through to manufacture, producing accurate technical drawings and assemblies that translate design intent into build-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D assemblies using SolidWorks
* Design and develop bespoke display cases and components
* Interpret client briefs, specifications, conservation requirements, and standards
* Develop and refine existing designs, resolving technical and manufacturing issues
* Prepare manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly drawings
* Liaise closely with production, project management, and installation teams
* Assist with site visits when required to verify dimensions and support installations
* Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and documentation control
* Work sensitively with projects involving high-value, fragile, or irreplaceable objects

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Proficiency in SolidWorks (industry or education based)
* Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings
* Understanding of manufacturing principles
* Portfolio demonstrating CAD / design work
Desirable:
* Background in product design, engineering, joinery, or fabrication
* Experience with aluminium extrusions, glass structures, steelwork, or bespoke joinery
* Experience working within a made-to-order or bespoke manufacturing environment
Graduate / Entry-Level applicants are welcome or particularly those with relevant placement or industry experience. Specialist training will be provided.
