GTR are recruiting Safety and Surveillance Hub Operators for the Rail Operating Centre based out Three Bridges.

Shift Hours: Between 05:00 and 01:00 (shift pattern rotation applies)
Purpose Of Role
To proactively enhance the safety and security of colleagues and customers across the GTR network by monitoring and disrupting antisocial behaviour (ASB) and welfare risks. The role uses CCTV, live announcements, and direct coordination with frontline staff, British Transport Police (BTP), and other partners to provide reassurance, deter incidents, and protect vulnerable individuals.
This role supports the organisation's responsibility to provide a safe and secure travel environment, improving perceptions of safety and enabling future innovation in security and welfare technology.
Key Success Criteria
* Deliver an enhanced level of safety, reassurance, and visible monitoring for colleagues and customers.
* Monitor hotspot and high-risk areas to identify ASB, unsafe behaviours, or welfare concerns.
* Respond to reports from staff (e.g. Zero Harm app) by gathering evidence, triaging incidents, and deploying resources as required.
* Make targeted public announcements to deter or de-escalate ASB.
* Liaise with BTP, emergency services, and internal teams to ensure rapid response and consistent communication.
* Support frontline colleagues by monitoring incidents, providing reassurance, and assisting with resolution.
* Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions and data handling.
* Strong situational awareness and ability to identify risks and concerning behaviours.
* Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a wide range of people, including vulnerable individuals.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including confident use of PA systems).
* Strong collaboration skills, able to work with internal teams, BTP, and external partners.
* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
* Previous experience in a safety, customer service, security, or CCTV environment desirable.
* Experience of working in a role requiring rapid decision-making and multi-agency collaboration is advantageous.
