Registered Children's Home Manager | Leicester | Full Time | £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Our client is a provider of residential care home services for young people, dedicated to supporting vulnerable children who deserve the best opportunity to succeed in the future. They believe in equal opportunities and would like to expand and help as many children as possible.
They are seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Manager to oversee a new home and take responsibility for registering the home with Ofsted.
Are you the right person for the job?
* Holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Deputy Manager in a residential childcare setting
* Has strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
* Is confident in managing safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory compliance
* A full UK driving license
What will your role look like?
* Lead and manage all aspects of the Registered Children's Home to achieve and maintain a good or outstanding Ofsted rating, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, therapeutic care for young people placed for medium to long-term stays
* Develop and implement individualised care plans to safeguard young people's welfare and promote their emotional and physical wellbeing, preparing them effectively for independent living
* Take full responsibility for the management, coordination, and development of a range of quality services for young people accommodated within the home, ensuring that emotional care, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation, and key worker support are delivered in line with the home's procedures and strategies
* Recruit, lead, motivate, and develop a skilled and committed care team, providing clear operational management including staff induction, supervision, appraisal, and deployment of resources; ensure staff participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to maintain emergency cover
* Promote effective partnership working with young people, their families, local authorities, external partners, and other agencies to meet the complex needs of young people, support continuity of care, and avoid unnecessary admissions to the looked-after system where possible
* Lead on setting, reviewing, and achieving clear targets and objectives for the home and its staff, proactively evaluating service quality and taking a leading role in driving continuous improvements in care and organisational practices
* Ensure that the home complies with the Children's Homes Regulations 2001 and the National Minimum Standards for Children's Homes 2002, including maintaining an up-to-date and appropriate Statement of Purpose that outlines the qualifications, experience, and expertise of the staff team
* Manage budgets effectively, ensuring financial control, compliance with organisational policies, and value for money in all expenditure related to the home
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and organisational policies, regularly inspecting the building and equipment to maintain a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for young people and staff
* Actively participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, and other staffing matters with appropriate support from the Director; identify and meet staff training and development needs, including contributing to training delivery
* Promote and implement organisational Equality and Diversity policies, ensuring that all staff understand and apply child protection procedures diligently
* Foster a culture of confidentiality and professionalism, ensuring that personal and sensitive information about young people and staff is handled with the utmost discretion
* Undertake any other duties as required by the Director, commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post
