Support your local community by joining Essex County Council’s School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Hadleigh Junior School, Church Road, Benfleet.
This is a permanent, part-time position paying £13.00 per hour. The role involves supporting schools during the morning and afternoon, ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the road to and from the school and surrounding areas.
We are seeking a punctual, reliable, approachable individual who enjoys engaging with the public.
This position is approximately 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included. You will work during the 39 weeks of the academic year, for about 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and 45 minutes in the afternoon (14:45 - 15:45), depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.
Responsibilities include:
* Considering the needs of disabled pedestrians, especially those with mobility impairments.
* Maintaining contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
* Assessing risks at the crossing site and reporting problems or defects.
* Assisting in accident reports and incidents at the crossing.
* Maintaining uniform and equipment in good condition and requesting replacements when needed.
* Giving clear signals to drivers to stop traffic and ensuring the road is clear of pedestrians before allowing crossing.
