What you’ll be doing
as a Process Safety Manager
1. You will lead the development and implementation of the process safety management strategy, confirming the accountability and responsibility of appropriate stakeholders for overall successful delivery.
2. Develop, document, maintain and communicate the process safety management system (process safety leadership, risk identification and assessment, risk management, reviews and improvements) to control the risk of significant process hazards at Thames Water.
3. Document company standards for hazard studies and risk assessment to identify significant hazards and develop controls to eliminate the risks.
4. Develop and maintain standards for safety in design, including safety and environmentally critical tasks (including process design, hazardous areas, relief systems, safety instrumented systems, human factors, change management, etc.)
5. Assign accountability and responsibility. Collate, review, report and (as required) escalate assurance findings.
6. Provide guidance and support to the business regarding process safety.
7. Set the standards for investigating any process safety incidents.
8. Lead and provide technical expertise for process safety investigations. Define and categorise the business safety incidents and their potential impact.
9. Develop, document and communicate minimum requirements for competency in process safety for holders of responsibility within the process safety management system.
Base location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB
Working pattern or hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
Requirements for the role: Must have a valid UK driver's license and have access to a car; this role does come with a car allowance.
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
10. Be a Chartered Chemical Engineer with Process Safety experience and qualification in Process Safety.
11. Solid background in Process Safety Management.
12. Strong knowledge of process safety regulations, codes, and standards.
13. Proven track record ofdeveloping and implementing process safety management policy, standards and procedures.
14. Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
