Department Description
The Technology department is charged with establishing, monitoring and maintaining information technology systems and services to enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively and securely. The department must stay at the forefront of technology change in order to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure and proactively support C4 strategic growth opportunities.
Job Purpose
The Technology Chief Operations Office (COO) team operate across Channel 4’s Finance, HR and Workspace functions, developing, implementing, and enhancing business solutions.
This role requires an experienced Systems Analyst to work with the HR function performing varied activities of support and project work. This role requires demonstrable experience of HR & People systems.
Channel 4’s HR system is Sage People (formerly known as Fairsail).
Key Responsibilities
Systems analyst responsibilities include:
* System administrator activities
* BAU support incidents
* System configuration changes, enhancements and developments
* System monitoring
* Testing (to support unit testing and system testing. In addition, regression testing as part of release management which takes place 3 times a year)
* Participate in discussions to understand the system and process problems faced by the business
* Use appropriate techniques to elicit and document requirements from stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
* Perform gap analysis against package-based systems
Essential Experience & Skills
* Will have been involved in several HCM related projects
* Have a good working knowledge of HR & People systems as a systems administrator
* Ability and confidence to work with 3rd party support partners
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent communications skills, with the ability to present ideas verbally and in writing
* Experience of the full software development delivery lifecycle for technology projects from requirements and design through to technical delivery, implementation and acceptance into service
* A self-starter with the ability to self-manage workload, be self-motivated and capable of working on own initiative
* Able to multi-task across several activities
* Ability to prioritise and plan own work with respect to deadlines and other constraints
* A passion for improving process and driving forward efficiency improvements
* Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills; focussed on getting things done
* Able to break down complex activities into manageable chunks
* Creative with the ability to think outside the box and challenge the as-is
* Keen to develop and has a flexible approach to learning
Desirable Experience & Skills
* Knowledge of Salesforce APIs
* Experience in Sage People, the primary HR & People system

Capabilities
Specialist advice
Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialism to the organisation's planning and operations. Actively maintains knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Recognises and identifies the boundaries of their own specialist knowledge. Where appropriate, collaborates with other specialists to ensure advice given is appropriate to the organisation's needs.
Application Support
Maintains application support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
Release & Deployment
Assesses and analyses release components for input to release scheduling. Maintains and administers tools and methods for software delivery, deployment and configuration. Maintains release processes and procedures.
Requirements & Definition Management
Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for small-scale changes and assists with more complex change initiatives. Follows agreed standards and applies appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailed requirements. Provides constructive challenge to stakeholders as required. Reviews requirements for errors and omissions. Prioritises requirements and documents traceability to source.
Basic salary per annum starting from £50,750.00

Hybrid working From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
Having everyone in the office three days a week gives us more opportunity to build our high performing, inclusive culture; to collaborate and to learn and share with each other, as well as helping to coordinate a regular pattern of home and office working days. Employees then have the flexibility to decide where they spend the rest of the working week. All our offices are open five days a week.
