Regional Commercial Director

Our client is one of the UK’s leading M&E Contractors, specialising in delivering high-quality services across sectors such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government projects. They are committed to excellence, innovation, and sustainability. Due to growth and project wins, they are seeking a Regional Commercial Director for their London/Southern Region. The company’s turnover is currently around £350m per year, with a positive growth trajectory, offering stability and career longevity.

The Vacancy

We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Regional Commercial Director to join the team. This strategic role reports directly to the Group Commercial Director and involves shaping regional performance and driving commercial excellence.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Unit Commercial Director, you will support the Regional Business Managing Director/Operations Directors. Lead the commercial teams on subcontract tender procurement, strategy, risk management, pre and post-contract activities, margin improvement, and people development.

Key responsibilities for overseeing & managing a turnover of around £80m include:

* Review pre-contract and contract/sub-contract documentation, negotiate with clients and contractors to ensure fair agreements.
* Oversee training of surveyors in the region, ensuring comprehensive support.
* Provide updates on ongoing contracts and final accounts, reporting potential issues.
* Ensure compliance with risk management procedures.
* Monitor work-in-progress and assist with cash collection to maintain positive cash flow.
* Visit sites regularly and liaise with industry counterparts.

The ideal candidate will lead the regional commercial function, maintain strong relationships, and be recognized as a commercial expert. They should possess excellent commercial and financial acumen, strong decision-making skills, and a logical approach to problem-solving. Commitment to accurate financial reporting, team development, and effective subcontractor management is essential. Promoting H&S standards and good negotiation skills are also required.
