Role Responsibility

The Integrated Adolescent Service recognises that children should be given a bespoke offer of support. The service promotes a practice philosophy which seeks to empower children and their families, building on individual strengths, and helping them to develop strategies which support them to understand, manage and respond to the difficulties they face.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and child centred individual to join us in the role of Team Manager for West Kent Youth Justice Team. You will have a history of statutory work experience managing in Youth Justice with a proven track record of performance management and development.

You will provide management supervision and support which ensures the team delivers high quality youth justice services achieving excellent outcomes for children and their families, particularly in relation to the three outcome measures of reducing first time entrants, reoffending and use of custody.

You will be skilled at multi-agency working and will be able to demonstrate your ability to support staff in the undertaking of quality assessments and delivery of interventions that reduce the likelihood of reoffending, levels of vulnerability and risk of harm to others. Crucial to the role is an understanding of the complex issues that impact upon children that offend and their families. You will promote the use of research and evidenced based practice approaches, being familiar with case formulation, contextual safeguarding, good lives model, restorative practice.You will have a comprehensive understanding of the Youth Justice System, and associated legislation ie. Crime & Disorder Act 1998 and all associated Guidance and Regulations as applied to Children and Young Peoples Services. You must have knowledge of MAPPA policies and procedures and in effectively assessing and managing risk of re-offending, serious harm to others and safety & wellbeing.The successful candidate will need to be a creative thinker and have the ability to work under pressure. In recognition of the resilience needed to perform this role, you will be offered a bespoke training package, clinical supervision and opportunities to develop your career further. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
