Interim Buyer / Procurement Engineer – Process Manufacturer
£350 – £400 per day (Ltd Company, Outside IR35) – based in South Derbyshire
Contract Length: 6 months
Responsibilities
* Receive designs and bill of materials from the design and project engineers.
* Purchase sheet metal, pipework, plate, dished ends, brackets and other ancillary equipment.
* Understand material requirements for each project.
* Contact at least three suppliers with the requirements.
* Secure the best value bid in terms of price, quality, and delivery date.
* Engage in basic negotiations as required.
* Work on multiple projects simultaneously and consolidate orders when possible.
* Support two other team members, set daily objectives and maintain tempo.
* Act as escalation point for any supply‑chain issues.
* Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure materials arrive on the shop‑floor on time.
* Identify opportunities to save money, time and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
* Procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Capable of planning for specific demands using a methodical approach.
* Ability to support a small team composed of a buyer and an expediter.
* Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
