Job Description:
Maintenance Controller - York
£58, % shift allowance

Your New Role
You will play a key role in managing live railway operations from the York Rail Operations Centre, serving as the main point of contact for operators, Network Rail, and frontline teams. Your responsibilities include overseeing Class 800 fleets in service, coordinating technical inspectors, and ensuring trains meet all maintenance and depot requirements. What you'll be doing
* Support the customer with the management of all class 800 fleets while in service
* Act as initial point of contact for all live operational interfaces at the York rail Operations Centre.
* Co-ordinating the deployment and issuing work to technical riding inspectors as required to support the class 800 fleets in service.
* Monitoring trains in service to ensure the maintenance plan and associated requirements are achieved and trains are delivered to depot as planned.
* Management of in-service provisions and faults including advice to the customers control room staff, Network Rail signallers, Train Drivers, on-board staff and platform staff as required.
* Recording of faults directly into Hitachi SAP based maintenance management system in an accurate and timely manner.
* Monitor and report repeat defects captured in service.
* Raise and monitor in service restrictions using SOROS.
* Capturing in service maintenance requirements from the operational fleet.
* Access and direct input and recording into the associated control room logs.
* Monitoring the fleet in service to ensure limited impact on the customer passenger operation and short / long term maintenance plans
* Utilisation of control room operational management systems (Integrale/P2/TRUST) and Hitachi`s SAP, SOROS and HFMT systems.
* Undertake competency assessment in line with the customers and Hitachi's requirements.
* Develop professionally and support good working relationships with all stakeholders.
* Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi's new business demands as required.
* Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post.
* Deputise for the East Coast Control Room Team Leader as required
* Other duties as instructed by the line manager.
About you
Essential
Licences / Competences
* Sound knowledge of railway operations
* Technical understanding of traction and rolling stock
* Strong leadership and management experience
Qualifications
* Vocational engineering qualifications and experience
* Management training qualifications or equivalent experience
Behavioural
* Sound knowledge of, and compliance to rules and regulations
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
* Good team worker and able to build relationship with other stakeholders
* Capably of working in stressful environments for long periods of time
Desirable
Licences / Competences
* Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Equinox
* Previous experience of using SOROS, SAP, Integrale and TRUST.
* Previous experience of working in operational railway control rooms would be advantageous
