First Fence is looking for a Transport Planner to manage vehicle movements, driver scheduling, and coordination of transportation operations in Tipton.
Salary: £28,500-£30,000 per annum depending on experience.
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 17:30.
Location: Tipton, DY4 7BS.
Key Responsibilities
* Routing and Dispatch: Manage vehicle movements, optimise routes, and organise drivers safely and efficiently.
* Capacity Planning: Assess capacity requirements based on demand forecasts and order volumes.
* Driver Management: Oversee driver HR aspects, attendance, performance and welfare.
* Debriefs: Conduct driver debriefs to review daily operations and promote continuous improvement.
* Communication: Coordinate with drivers, track vehicle locations, and manage driver hours compliance.
* Customer Service: Act as first point of contact for clients, manage expectations, and resolve delivery issues.
* Compliance: Ensure vehicles and drivers adhere to UK transport regulations and company safety standards.
* Administration: Maintain accurate digital records, update transport management systems and generate reports.
* Problem‑Solving: Identify and resolve transportation issues such as delays, breakdowns and route deviations.
* Vehicle Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance schedules, ensure fleet roadworthiness and minimise downtime.
* Recruitment: Support recruitment activities for the depot, including sourcing, interviewing and onboarding drivers.
* Supplier Liaison: Work with external suppliers, maintenance providers and service partners to achieve efficient operations.
Requirements
* 2+ years of experience in transport administration, planning or logistics.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Proficiency in IT/transport management software and strong geographical knowledge.
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
