The Role:
As a Highways Engineer, you’ll take an active role in the design and coordination of roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure for new developments. You’ll work across all project stages — from concept to detailed design — while collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and produce detailed designs, drawings, and calculations for highways and drainage schemes
* Prepare design reports, technical assessments, and documentation to relevant standards
* Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other project stakeholders
* Undertake site visits and surveys to collect data and monitor construction progress
* Contribute to project planning and management to ensure work is delivered on time and to specification
* Support quality assurance processes and compliance with relevant health and safety standards
* Participate in internal and external professional development training
About You:
* Experience in highway or civil infrastructure design
* Competent user of AutoCAD and other recognised design software (Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, PDS etc.)
* Full UK driving licence
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
* Self-motivated with strong organisational and communication skills
* Confident working both independently and as part of a team
* Understanding of relevant design codes and standards (highways, drainage, flood risk, utilities)
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations and health and safety in design
Software Exposure:
You’ll have the opportunity to work with:

* PDS for road layout, markings, and traffic design
