You will be working as part of a new team of Roster & Resourcing Clerks that will bring a consistent approach to how we utilise our colleague resource at GWR Stations.
About the job
The main objective of this role is to ensure that there are sufficient colleagues to manage the operation in its entirety. The colleague coverage of each station will be the responsibility of the Stations Roster Clerk with support from other grades at the station. You will also manage ad-hoc release from duty requests, and release of colleague for training and briefings when required.
Your main responsibilities
* Liaise daily with colleagues and local managers processing and actioning requests in a timely manner in line with agreed rostering principles.
* Compile and issue rosters that meet GWR rostering agreements for colleagues working within the stations team and acting as a single point of contact for all rostering issues.
* Manage all training and briefing release requirements.
* Input all amendments in a timely manner and deal with pay enquiries
* Ensure that leave, sickness, etc. are input correctly to reflect roster changes.
* Maintain accurate records of leave taken and overtime worked by individual colleagues.
* Provide cover for other roster clerks when required, including those in regions other than your own.
You\'ll need to be
* Approachable, adaptable and able to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and have good interpersonal skills in written and verbal communications.
* Methodical, with a mindset and ability to translate your approach face to face or in writing.
* Supporting the Stations management team in administration duties as required
As a minimum, you will need to have
* Understanding of safety critical working and rail operations including the responsibilities of the different grades within stations.
* A good understanding of working with rosters and rostering principles.
* Understanding of working with the WFM (work force management) system
* Good knowledge of Excel, Word, OneDrive and associated applications.
* An analytical, methodical approach to statistical information.
* A can-do attitude that is open to new ways of working whilst working to deadlines.
About the location
The role is primarily based within your specified region. Travel will be required to carry out station visits to speak to colleagues and local managers.
Working Pattern
This role is contracted to 35 hours per week, primarily covering office based hours. Some weekend working and out of hours work may be required from time to time, subject to business requirements.
