The Role
As a General Maintenance Operative / Caretaker, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the safety, compliance and functionality of buildings across site.
Day-to-day, you’ll carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across building fabric, ensuring facilities remain operational, safe and fit for purpose.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out general building maintenance and fabric repairs across site
* Conducting routine inspections including fire doors, fire stopping and water systems (L8 checks)
* Responding to reactive maintenance issues and making them safe
* Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities to ensure compliance
* Working collaboratively within a small team and providing cover when required
* Participating in a 24/7 on-call rota (following initial training period)
Essential experience of the General Maintenance Operative / Caretaker:
* Experience delivering general building maintenance in a facilities or site environment
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic IT literacy
* Willingness to participate in a call-out rota
Essential qualifications for the General Maintenance Operative / Caretaker:
* Full UK driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site. Set working times are 8:00am – 4:30pm (8:00am – 4:00pm on Fridays) with some flexibility around start and finish times. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be required, including occasional visits to our Bristol site.
Malvern
The Malvern facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities. Developing technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
