Are you passionate about seabird conservation and excited to play a key role in protecting some of our most vulnerable seabirds? We’re looking for a Biosecurity and Community Engagement Officer to join an ambitious programme dedicated to safeguarding Northern Ireland’s tern populations and sharing best practice across Ireland. In this rewarding role, you will: Lead vital work to restore and protect tern breeding islands, ensuring these special habitats remain secure and thriving. Build strong connections with local communities, inspiring people to get involved and support seabird conservation. Drive awareness and collaboration that will deliver lasting benefits for nature across the island of Ireland. This is a chance to take on meaningful work where every action counts toward long-term seabird recovery. Funded by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), the Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Planning (CMAP) project is a €9.6M cross-border initiative, led by Ulster University. CMAP will enable communities, stakeholders and decision-makers to better understand and adapt to the challenges of coastal change driven by climate change. About the Role As a Project Officer, you will: Support effective project governance, ensuring activities are delivered on time and to standard. Deliver agreed project outputs and objectives in line with the project plan. Work collaboratively with staff, partners, contractors and volunteers. Produce accurate project documentation and contribute to project reporting. Lead and support communications activities - from community events and workshops to media engagement and written materials. Coordinate and contribute to meetings, providing updates to the Project Manager and project board. Identify and raise project risks and issues, supporting solutions. Assist in budget management and project reviews. About You We’re looking for a proactive, collaborative and well-organised individual who can bring enthusiasm and commitment to this unique role. You will have: At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English. Knowledge of project management theory and practice. Strong IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Outlook). Relevant skills and/or experience aligned to tern conservation and community engagement. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire, influence and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of working in project teams and coordinating with diverse partners. Confidence in organising and delivering events, workshops or facilitated discussions. Strong writing skills, with experience producing newsletters, reports or other communications. Experience in supporting and managing volunteers. This is a Full-Time role, Fixed-Term for 30 months.
