Job Description
Experienced Veterinary Surgeon - Milton Keynes Vets4Pets
Salary: £55,000-£65,000 DOE + bonus scheme (higher for certificate holders/AVP).
Experience: 5+ years in small animal practice. Working towards a certificate welcomed; certificate holders encouraged to apply (salary to match experience).
Location: Vets4Pets Milton Keynes (close to fast rail links and Luton Airport)
About the role
This is an experienced vet role in a practice that genuinely cares about its people, its patients and doing things properly. We're forward thinking but down to earth-no egos, just a supportive team that enjoys working together and takes pride in what we do.
Right now we're in the middle of an exciting expansion. Our mezzanine extension (started July 2025) is adding a dedicated dental suite, imaging room and CT room, plus larger dog and cat wards, a bigger office and a proper colleague space where people actually want to spend time. The GE Revolution ACT (32 slice) CT goes live later this year, and we're expanding to 7 consult rooms and 3 theatres-not because we're chasing growth for its own sake, but because we want to match our clinical ambition and keep offering the kind of care we're proud of.
We aim to keep learning, keep improving, listen to each other, and do the right thing for patients and clients. We're also proud holders of Investors in the Environment - Green Status (we were the first general practice to achieve Green accreditation) and an ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic (Silver). Culture, clinical standards and sustainability all matter here.
Who we are
We're an independent minded JVP practice led by Huw Morgan Jones (RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery) and his wife Stephanie Morgan-Jones (Practice Manager). The team includes 10 vets, 8 RVNs, 3 SVNs, and 4 VCAs, plus experienced client care and admin teams. We hold regular clinical team meetings and all practice meetings every couple of months-because communication matters, and so does making sure everyone has a voice.
Facilities
Orthopaedics: TPLO, ESF, locking systems; Hall autoclavable drill.
Monitoring & anaesthesia : multiparameters, portable capnography, syringe drivers, plenty of infusion pumps Imaging & scopes: Logic R8 ultrasound (Doppler), flexible scopes (gastroscope & bronchoscope ), Karl Storz image capture, Rhinoscopy/laparoscopy/arthroscopy,
Plus: dental X ray, K Laser, nerve stimulator, EPOC point of care blood gases, HT Vista skin mass assessment by heat diffusion imaging.
From Dec 2025: New mezzanine with dedicated dental suite, imaging room and CT (GE Revolution ACT 32 slice) CT. Additional consult room to bring us to 7 consult rooms, 2 theatres, pharmacy, larger wards and colleague space. Rehabilitation: in house physiotherapist and hydrotherapy treadmill service.
The role
This is an Experienced Veterinary Surgeon position. You'll manage your own caseload confidently, take on interesting work ups aligned to your strengths, and collaborate closely with colleagues across surgery, imaging, medicine and ECC. There's genuine scope to develop subspecialty interests (including certificate study), contribute to clinical meetings and audits, and-if you enjoy it-offer informal mentoring to junior vets.
We're also open to discussing a pathway to partnership with the right person, subject to mutual fit and timing.
