Theatre Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Theatre team at St Hugh’s Hospital, Grimsby. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver adult health services, focusing on inpatient and outpatient services to deliver the highest standard of hospital care, surpassing patient expectations.
You will use your experience of Care delivery to undertake delegated nursing tasks within agreed parameters, set by Heads of Departments.
You will work within clinical competencies pertinent to the area of speciality and in accordance within HMTs policies and procedures and values.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone with experience of care delivery including basic nursing care, basic wound care, bladder/bowel care, moving and handling, skin and nutritional assessments, infection prevention control, and safeguarding awareness.
You will have the ability to organise and prioritise own workload under supervision of a Registered Nurse with effective time management skills. Job responsibilities
Duties include:
* To be aware of and familiar with all appropriate Hospital policies and procedures.
* To be aware of and maintain high standards of infection control by following appropriate policies and procedures.
* Participate in providing optimum patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or ODP and raise any issues of concern.
* To be familiar with all aspects of outsourcing instruments / trays following appropriate training.
* Assist the theatre team practitioners in ensuring the theatre environment remains clean and tidy by following Departmental E‑learning protocols.
* Maintain both written and electronic records and report any concerns to all relevant personnel.
* Assist in the maintenance and control levels of surgical supplies.
* Participate in quality assurance initiatives and audits as required.
* Escort patients from the ward to theatre.
Key Accountabilities Include:
* Ensure any accidents/incidents are reported and recorded according to hospital policy/procedure.
* Ensure that the theatre department is clean and tidy at all times.
* Assist Nursing staff in putting out instruments for the following days Operating List.
* Attend infection control updates and be a link person for the department.
* Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and available for audit purposes.
To ensure compliance to all local/corporate policies and procedures, noting the absolute requirement to adhere to infection control policy and procedure and to ensure that all other hospital personnel fulfil their contractual obligation, by escalating failures to do so to a line manager.

Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Basic IT Skills
* The ability to plan and control the use of resources
* NVQ in Health and Social Care
Experience
* Previous experience in management of stock control
* Experience in Operating Theatres
