Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Technical Support Officer to join the Technical Services team, based at our Headquarters in St Michael’s Street, Shrewsbury. The team plays a key role in supporting the Services’ vision of ‘Making Shropshire Safer’ and the priorities in our Community Risk Management Plan.
What Will You Be Doing?
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role will ensure that personnel are provided with sufficient PPE and that appliances are fully stocked with operational equipment. The main duties include the purchase and supply of protective equipment, uniform, usage of supplier systems, using electronic systems to issue stores, general storekeeping, station deliveries, liaising with suppliers and keeping all compliance documents accurate and electronically stored.
What Are We Looking For?
* Proactive and highly motivated candidates with experience using electronic systems to manage stock, stores and/or plan maintenance for assets.
* Experience in a technical field including industrial or safety-critical equipment and PPE.
* Strong communication skills, ability to use own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
* Full valid driving licence for collection and delivery of equipment and vehicles.
* Participation in an out of hours emergency call-out service (1 in 4 weekends and 1 night per week, with 18% salary enhancement plus additional payments for call-outs).
* Relevant qualifications in Maths and English as outlined in the Person Specification.
* Proven experience in the management of stores and PPE, procurement or contract administration, and customer services.
