Your mission
As a QA inspector you will be working in a team reporting directly to the Quality Inspection Manager. You will be responsible for working to customer priority despatch dates by inspecting parts from our in-house machine shop and sub-contractors to engineering drawings and specifications sheets. These include using thread gauges, spline gauges, micrometers, bore micrometers, verniers and cmm’s for detailed measurements. Also goods inwards duties, booking in orders, counting parts and un-loading parts to the goods inwards area, preparing them for final inspection. Some overtime is expected in busy periods.
The Role
Your main responsibilities will include;
1. Day to day inspection of parts to drawings from scheduled plans
2. Detailed measurements on critical parts
3. Surface finishes and visual checks on plating such as anodising and nickel plating
4. Controlling non- conforming parts until passed off or quarantined through supplier NCR and non-conformance reports
5. Checking material certificates to specifications and ISO standards
6. Hardness testing parts in both Rockwell and Brinell
Specific Tasks
7. Work within the team or individually to ensure parts are checked thoroughly to drawings
8. Communication between other departments at an early stage is key, keeping other departments informed of non-conformances that can affect deadlines
9. Promote Health and Safety at all times ensuring policies are adhered to and maintained
10. Work accurately and consistently as required in a fast-paced environment
11. Learn / contribute toward Lean Manufacturing initiatives
12. Conduct internal Audits on other departments to 7S standards
13. Identify efficiencies and contribute toward team goals and initiatives
Skills and experience
We are looking for a conscientious and dedicated candidate preferably with minimum 4/5 years’ experience in Inspection or Quality Engineering role. Working within the team where previous skills can be demonstrated and applied, but most importantly a highly driven individual with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
CMM experience will be an advantage but not necessary as training will be given.
The successful applicant will have good numerical, literacy, and hands on skills, and be able to demonstrate an innovative approach to producing solutions.
You have the desire and ability to develop your skills further over time, through coaching support and hands-on experience.
Knowledge
14. Engineering/Manufacturing experience is essential
15. Strong Maths, Literacy and IT Skills
16. CMM experience both manual and CNC experience preferred
17. Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc
18. Good listening and communication- both written and verbal
Education
HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering would be ideal, but not essential.

This position is a local position, and you will be based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK
Some shift work will be expected ranging from 6.00 - 14.30 and 10:00 – 18.00.
