Purchasing / Procurement Manager. Hybrid - 2 days working from home, remainder in office | Full-time. North Somerset. Circa £50,000 per annum. Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and team leadership?

About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager (with a dotted line to Finance), you will:
* Ensure customer order requirements are met for manufactured and factored products.
* Deliver capacity planning to keep production running at optimal levels.
* Collaborate across departments to align purchasing with operational needs.
* Lead, coach, and motivate a team, setting priorities and ensuring performance targets are achieved.
This is a hands-on strategic role, giving you the chance to shape procurement processes, optimise supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Procurement & Supplier Management
o Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, parts, and equipment.
o Identify, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
o Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality, or compliance issues.
o Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier evaluations.
o Analyse market trends to anticipate supply risks and cost fluctuations.
* Communication & Collaboration
o Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams and external partners.
o Clarify order queries and advise of any significant changes to plans.
o Provide reporting on performance metrics, including supplier KPIs and stock levels.
* Team Leadership & Development
o Allocate and prioritise tasks, motivate, and support your team.
o Manage performance, recognising talent and addressing underperformance.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across departments.
* Compliance & Standards
o Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001).
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a procurement manager, ideally in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
* Strong knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation.
* Familiarity with manufacturing materials (e.g., metals, plastics, electronics) and production timelines.
* Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
* CIPS or APICS certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
