THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Engineer for our client based in Northamptonshire. The Company’s principal focus is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. Working within a team of engineers and CAD technicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment, particularly related to construction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complex structures. Attendance on site when required to assist in heavy lifting and moving operations.
THE ROLE
9. Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures, particularly in steel
10. Erection engineering including preparation of method statements
11. Design and specification of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
12. Static analyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computer programs
13. Preparation of detailed calculations using Excel (preferred) or by hand
14. Preparation of sketches and drawings using AutoCAD or by hand
15. Liaison with CAD team
16. Development of standard spreadsheet solutions suitable for use with Excel
17. Assist in the management of the design office and lead other members of the team
18. Attendance on site when required to assist in heavy lifting and moving operations
THE PERSON
19. Chartered engineer, achieving chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
20. 5 to 10 years post graduate experience
21. Experience in analysis and design of structures, particularly in steel
22. Experience in the use of finite element analysis computer programs
23. Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems)
24. Experience in the use of computer drafting programs (AutoCAD)
25. Good presentation and communications skills
26. Relevant site experience
27. Good working knowledge of Eurocodes, particularly EN1993
Preferable:
28. Experience in design of temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
29. Experience in the design of hydraulic equipment
