Safety Officer, 1st Shift — Student Activities Board
Overview
This is a 1st Shift Position. The employee works four ten-hour shifts per week, with the standard hours of 6am – 4pm, and is scheduled to work every-other weekend (Fri–Mon).

Position Description
Position Summary
The employee works four ten-hour shifts per week (6am – 4pm), with every-other weekend (Fri–Mon). Responsibilities include security patrols of campus (by vehicle and on foot), responding to medical and emergency calls, opening of buildings, providing safe-ride services, enforcing university conduct policies, conducting investigations, community engagement, and interacting with all community members in a Christ-like manner.
Education
* Required: High school diploma or equivalent
* Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree
Experience
* Required: One year of employment in safety and security or emergency services; prior experience in higher education setting
* Preferred: 2 years of law enforcement/security; 2 years of emergency services; First Aid/CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed Certifications; 1 year in a customer-service related field; basic proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel

Special Working Conditions
* Ability to perform essential job functions which require walking, standing, lifting (40lbs), pushing/pulling, stooping, dragging up to 150lbs, and enduring various weather conditions
* Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, holidays; some mandatory overtime for special events
* Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation
* Essential employee: report to work as scheduled during emergencies
Duties
* Patrol campus via vehicle, bike, or on foot; provide physical security services
* Serve as a resource to students, employees, and visitors
* Maintain knowledge of parking and permit regulations; enforce as necessary
* Conduct traffic management to ensure compliance with PA vehicle code
* Respond to, investigate, and document campus crimes
* Direct traffic during large events
* Respond to incidents and act as first responder for medical calls
* Provide safety escorts; liaison with outside law enforcement and community organizations
* Conduct safety and security trainings for students and employees
* Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
* Secondary duties: testify in PA courts, perform dispatch as needed, conduct fire drills, and other duties as assigned
